In an interview with Galatta Plus, Janhvi Kapoor said, “I don’t want to take it so seriously. My social media is for me to have fun. Hopefully if I look cute and five extra people like my pictures, I’ll get another brand and I’ll be able to pay for my EMIs with more ease than I was before”.

To add context to her statement, she was referring to the contradiction between her recent roles that portray her in a ‘girl-next-door’ avatar and her social media presence that shows her in glamorous looks. The interviewer felt that the audience might find it hard to relate to her on-screen character if her off-screen character did not match up with it. Answering cheekily, Kapoor said that she does not take her social media seriously. However, she also made it known that it does indeed play a role in her finances.

Janhvi Kapoor has 20.3 million followers on Instagram and on average her posts receive between 500K and 1 million likes. She also gets more than 1,000 comments on each of her posts. While this is a very big number compared to what non-celebrity content creators usually have, interestingly, she doesn't even make it to the top 10 most followed people in India.

Akshay Kumar holds the tenth position with 63.1 million followers, while Jacqueline Fernandez is slightly ahead at 63.3 million followers. The eighth, seventh and sixth positions are taken up by Katrina Kaif (66.7 million), Deepika Padukone (68.8 million) and Narendra Modi (69.3 million). Alia Bhatt (70 million), Neha Kakkar (70.7 million) and Shraddha Kapoor (74.4 million) take the next three spots.

In the second position is Priyanka Chopra with 81.9 million followers. And at the very top is cricketer Virat Kohli with a massive 212 million followers.
