If you are using the Microsoft Edge browser in your gadget, then this message from the Indian government is for you! Even if Microsoft Edge is not in use, but is installed in your system, even then this risk applies to you. The Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) of the Indian government's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has found a 'high-risk' multiple vulnerabilities in Microsoft Edge. The Indian government department also raised a warning for Microsoft Edge users using a browser older than version 98.0.1108.55. According to the report, older versions of Microsoft Edge contain a number of system vulnerabilities that allow cybercriminals and hackers to get access to users' devices.

The vulnerabilities in Microsoft Edge are triggered by multiple vulnerabilities in the browser's development that allows access to File Manager even when the user is not actively using the browser. Other issues include memory buffer overflow in Edge's Tab Groups and access to the Webstore API when not in use. Cyber invaders and hackers can easily bypass security constraints on a system and cause a denial of service conditions by exploiting these flaws.

What should Microsoft Edge users do

The only solution to bypass this high-risk vulnerability is to update your browser to the latest Microsoft Edge Stable Channel (Version 98.0.1108.55). Microsoft reported in the security updates doc that "the update incorporates the latest Security Updates of the Chromium project. This update contains a fix for CVE-2022-0609, which has been reported by the Chromium team as having an exploit in the wild." Not just the fix to the bug, but the new update of Microsoft Edge comes with a new Edge Bar enhanced security mode, where and several other features. So, it is advised by Cert-in to update your Microsoft Browser.
