Apple will announce the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus on Sept 9

Start the countdown. Apple's next big event is exactly a month away -- and the company is expected to announce the iPhone 6S, the iPhone 6S Plus, and a brand new Apple TV.

Apple hasn't official confirmed the date yet, but sources familiar with its plans told BuzzFeed Tech's John Paczkowski that it intends to hold the event the week of September 7. Paczkowski, who was earlier a reporter for technology news website Re/Code, has a pretty solid record of scooping Apple stories long before the company makes anything official, so the September 9 date is almost certainly confirmed.

The new iPhones are expected to feature a pressure-sensitive Force Touch display, similar to what Apple uses in its Watch and a faster and more power-efficient processor that should improve battery life considerably. They will also ship with iOS 9, the next version of Apple's operating system for iPhone and iPads that is currently in a public beta.

Paczkowski's sources also say that Apple might show off new iPads, although there is still no confirmation about the 12.9-inch 'iPad Pro' that Apple has allegedly been working on for some time now.

Apple might also announce a new Apple TV. The company's set-top box hasn't been updated since early 2012 and is long overdue for a refresh. It is expected to be slimmer and have a significantly more powerful A8 processor inside. It is also likely to have Siri voice control, a brand new touch-sensitive remote control, and, finally, its own App Store.
