Google Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL Launch Event Highlights: Google Pixel 4 series, Pixel Buds, Pixelbook Go and more
Google’s annual hardware event took place today in New York City. Google launched a host of new products including the much awaited Pixel 4 smartphones. Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL smartphones come with a new design, upgraded cameras and motion sensing features. Google Pixel 4 is priced at $799, while the bigger Pixel 4 XL will retail at $899. Google has also introduced a new ‘Oh So Orange’ colour for the Pixel 4.Google’s new lineup of products also include the Pixelbook Go with a refreshed design and longer battery life. Google also launched a new generation Pixel Buds which comes with hands-free assistant and longer Bluetooth range. There’s also a new Nest Mini which looks like the Google Home Mini.Here are the highlights from the 2019 ‘Made by Google’ event.
Google Pixel 4: Camera
Google Pixel 4 comes with new computational photography features including Live HDR+, Dual Exposure Controls, White Balancing in all lighting modes, upgraded Portrait Mode and bokeh mode. Night Sight has also been improved on the Pixel 4.
Google Pixel 4: Price, availability
Google Pixel 4's display comes with a 90Hz refresh rate which adjusts automatically. Google Pixel 4 also comes with 3 months of Google One subscription for new users. It will be available in three colours of Just Black, Clearly White and Oh So Orange. Pixel 4 is priced at $799 and the Pixel 4 XL will retail at $899. Pre-orders for the new Pixel phones are now available.
Google Pixel 4: New recording app
Google Pixel 4 comes with a new recorder app which also features live transcribe. The recording clips will also show the exact time stamps of words searched on the Pixel 4. This feature also works in offline mode.
Google Pixel 4: New Google Assistant
Google Pixel 4 comes with an upgraded Assistant which features a revamped look, smarter and faster functioning. There's also a new way to manage activity data and option to delete data by simply asking Assistant.
Google Pixel 4 launched
Google finally launches its new Pixel 4 smartphone series. It comes in three colours of white, black and a new coral. Google Pixel 4 comes with a radar sensor for motion sensing features. This enables face unlock which Google says is the fastest on a phone. It also brings air gestures which lets users swipe their hands in the air to skip songs and silence calls.
Google Nest Mini launched
Google unveiled a new generation Nest Mini smart speaker which looks much like the Google Home Mini. It is priced at $49 and is available for pre-orders now.
Google Pixelbook Go unveiled
Ivy Ross unveiled the new Pixelbook Go laptop which comes in two colours of ‘Just Black' and ‘Not Pink'. It has a new grippable design and offers battery up to 12 hours. Pixelbook Go in ‘Just Black' is now available for pre-order in the US.
Google’s sustainable design
Ivy Ross, VP of hardware design, takes the stage to talk about the design processes of Google products. Ross highlights how Google has been pushing towards sustainability in their products. All of Google Nest products launched in 2019 include recycled plastic. Google is also investing $150 million in renewable products.
New Pixel Buds
Google unveiled its upgraded Pixel Buds which comes with a new circular design. It features hands-free Google Assistant, long range Bluetooth connectivity up to three rooms indoors, and up to 5 hours of continuous playback. The new Pixel Buds also automatically adjusts volume according to the user's surrounding environment. Google Pixel Buds will be available in Spring 2020.
Google Pixel 4 launch event starts
Google's hardware chief Rick Osterloh takes the stage to start the 2019 Made by Google event. Google's cloud gaming service ‘Stadia' will be available globally on November 19.
Google Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL: Last minute leaks
Google Pixel 4 series continued to leak even in the last few hours before its launch. These leaks confirmed what has already been revealed so far like design and camera. A more interesting leak suggests the pricing of the new Pixel phones. Google's Pixel 4 is expected to be priced at $799 (Rs 57,000 approximately) while the larger Pixel 4 XL could retail at $899 (Rs 64,200 approximately).
More Made by Google products
In addition to the Pixel 4 series Google is expected to launch more hardware products. Among these include Google's new laptop, Pixelbook Go with an improved trackpad and a premium design. Google is also expected to launch an upgraded pair of Pixel Buds. More products in the lineup include a new Google Home Mini smart speaker and Nest smart home devices.
Pixel 4: India availability details
Google has brought all its Pixel phones to India including the Pixel 3a series. This year could be different as Google may not launch the Pixel 4 series in India. The reason behind this is suspected to be Google's Soli radar chip. Google had announced that this feature will be available only in select markets and India could be excluded from the list.
Google Pixel 4 XL: What to expect
Google Pixel 4 XL will come with almost the same specifications as its smaller sibling. The only difference between the two phones have been the display and battery size. This time too, the same is expected. According to leaks, Pixel 4 XL could feature a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ OLED display. The smartphone is expected to come with a 3,700mAh battery.
Google Pixel 4: Expected specs
Google Pixel 4 has turned out to be the most leaked smartphones. Almost everything has been revealed about the new Pixel phones and in detail. While Google has confirmed the new features arriving on the Pixel 4 series, its specifications have also been leaked.
Google Pixel 4 is expected to feature a 5.7-inch Full HD+ OLED display which is highly expected to have a 90Hz refresh rate. The dual-camera setup is rumoured to feature a 12-megapixel primary sensor with PDAF and a 16-megapixel telephoto lens. As is tradition, Pixel 4 will most likely be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 processor. The smartphone is said to pack a 2,800mAh battery.
Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL: Confirmed specs
Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL have so far been confirmed to feature dual rear cameras. This will be a first for Pixel phones. The front camera module will also house Google's Soli radar chip for a new motion sensing feature. This will enable air gestures on the Pixel 4 series allowing users to skip songs, snooze alarms by just waving their hand.
Google Pixel 4 series will also offer face unlock making it another first. Face unlock is somewhat a dated feature but Google assures its facial recognition is quite advanced. Google said the Pixel 4 phones will recognise even when the phone is held upside down.
