Fans will soon be able to buy artists' merchandise on video hosting site YouTube with the launch of Google's 'Merch Store.'

Google is hoping that its new store will help musicians sell items such as digital downloads, concert tickets, T-shirts, stickers, posters and more to some of the 800 million people that watch YouTube-hosted videos each month.

The Merch Store will team up with affiliates including Topspin for merchandise, concert tickets and experiences; Songkick for concerts; and iTunes and Amazon for music downloads, said Google in an October 16 post on its YouTube blog.

The partnership is great news for musicians who will now be able to generate additional revenue from e-commerce without having to send fans off in search of third-party sites.

"Whether you're the main event, the opener or jamming from your living room, we want to give you the chance to find an audience and make music your career on YouTube," added Google.

The Merch Store will be rolled out to music partners globally over the next few weeks.
