Honor 7A vs Oppo Realme1 vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 5: Price, specifications, features compared
The latest entrants in the competitive budget segment battle it out in terms of price, specifications and features.
Honor on Tuesday launched two new budget smartphones in India - Honor 7A and Honor 7C. Both smartphones come with trending features and specifications with competitive price tags. Honor 7A in particular raises the bar for budget smartphones competing directly with another new entrant, Oppo Realme 1. It also gives competition to the most popular budget smartphone, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.
Oppo in partnership with Amazon India launched the Realme 1 smartphone in India last week. The smartphone offers top-notch software and hardware features with a premium design and look. Xiaomi launched the successor to Redmi Note 4 earlier this year. Redmi Note 5 comes with incremental updates and upgrades.
Here's a look at how the new Honor 7A and Oppo Realme 1 compares against each other in terms of price, specifications and features.
Honor 7A and Oppo Realme 1 both feature an HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Honor 7A comes with a 5.7-inch display, while the Realme 1 has a bigger 6-inch display. Redmi Note 5, on the other hand comes with a 5.9-inch full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio.
Processor, RAM and storage
Honor 7A is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 430 processor. Oppo Realme 1 runs MediaTek's Helio P20 processor under its hood. In terms of memory, Honor 7A offers 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. Oppo Realme 1 also offers the same storage option. The smartphone also comes with two more storage options which are priced higher.
Redmi Note 5 has a Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. There's another storage option of 4GB RAM and 64GB.
For photography, Honor 7A offers a dual-camera setup at the rear which is a combination of 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensors. The dual cameras come with bokeh mode and beauty 4.0. Up front there's an 8-megapixel camera with selfie toning light adjustment.
Oppo Realme 1 doesn't come with a dual-camera setup but a single 13-megapixel sensor with LED flash. Some camera features include AI beauty, real-time object recognition and AR stickers. For selfies it offers an 8-megapixel camera with bokeh mode.
Xiaomi's Redmi Note 5 also has a single 12-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and PDAF, and a 5-megapixel selfie camera.
Battery and OS
Honor 7A is fuelled by a 3,00mAh battery with a charging time of three hours. Oppo Realme 1 packs a bigger 3,410mAh battery along with AI battery management. This feature allows the AI to monitor the usage pattern and shuts down background apps accordingly.
On the software front, Honor 7A runs EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo. Oppo Realme 1 also has a custom UI Color OS 5.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Redmi Note 5 offers the biggest 4,000mAh battery from the lot.
Security options on Honor 7A and Redmi Note 5 include 'Face Unlock' and a rear fingerprint sensor. Oppo Realme 1 also comes with face unlock feature but lacks a fingerprint sensor.
Pricing and availability
Honor 7A and Oppo Realme 1 are priced quite the same with the former retailing at ₹8,999 and the latter at ₹8,990. Honor 7A will be available exclusively via Flipkart starting May 29. The smartphone can be purchased through Honor's e-stores as well. Oppo Realme 1 will go on sale on May 25 via Amazon India. Redmi Note 5 is priced slightly higher at ₹9,999, and can be purchased via mi.com, Flipkart, Amazon and offline channels.
