Xiaomi unveiled its much-anticipated flagship the Mi 5 last week to the world at MWC 2016. Since then, the device has been up for registrations, for which the company has set a new milestone.

Over 16.8 million users have already registered for today's flash sale, Xiaomi announced in a blog post. The company says it has set a new record which it has managed to achieve in less than a week after the smartphone's official unveiling. This isn't really surprising -- users have been waiting for the Mi 5 flagship for over 18 months. Moreover, the company seems have delivered what Xiaomi fans wanted -- a powerful handset at an affordable price tag.
