Not just mini-LED, Apple is working on OLED screens too for its 2022 iPad and MacBooks
According to the report, Apple is working on both iPad and Mac models with OLED screens and at least one of these might soon go into production as well.
Amidst all the rumours and speculations around Apple launching new iPad and MacBooks with mini-LED display tech, a new report from Digitimes now talks about some other new iPads and MacBooks that may arrive in 2022 featuring OLED screens.
According to the report, Apple is working on both iPad and Mac models with OLED screens and at least one of these might soon go into production as well. The first among these might be the 10.9-inch iPad, which can also be termed as the updated version of iPad Air. This particular device might go into production in the fourth quarter of this year, with the launch coming in early 2022.
In addition to the 10.9-inch iPad, the company is also said to use an OLED display for its 12.9-inch iPad Pro and the 16-inch MacBook Pro.
“The sources pointed out that the first device to come with an OLED panel is likely to be a 10.9-inch iPad, set to begin volume production in the fourth quarter of 2021 for an official release in 2022. The US brand reportedly is also considering adopting OLED panels for its 12.9-inch iPad Pro and 16- to 17-inch MacBook Pro scheduled for release in 2022, but have not made a final decision, the sources noted,” stated the Digitimes report.
It adds that while Apple is working on OLED screens for iPads and MacBook devices, it may also bring mini-LED displays like it has been rumoured since past few months. This also means that both the display technologies will exist side-by-side, and will be targeting different customer groups.
Citing sources, Digitimes adds that the 12.9-inch iPad Pro with a mini LED display might launch in the first half of this year. It also states that the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with mini LED might arrive in the second half of this year.
