Sony's PlayStation VR will cost as much as a console
PlayStation's recently rebranded virtual reality headset will sell for around the same price as a new console, says Sony Computer Entertainment's CEO Andrew House.

PlayStation's recently rebranded virtual reality headset will sell for around the same price as a new console, says Sony Computer Entertainment's CEO Andrew House.
Upon its introduction in 2013, the PlayStation 4 was tagged at $399 (€399, ¥39,980), though from this October its Japanese price will fall by nearly a fifth to ¥34,980.
Such precise numbers were not specified in the interview snippet spotted by industry news site Gamasutra, and the PlayStation VR -- on display at the Tokyo Game Show this week -- is still expected during the first half of 2016.
The forecast is on a par with the current focal point for VR discussion and development, the Oculus Rift DK 2 ($350), while OSVR's three versions will go for $199 and $299, plus extras, once preorders become available in October.
The Valve and HTC VR collaboration, Vive, is expected to register at the top end of the scale, if not beyond.
