INQ, the lesser-known but critically acclaimed cell phone maker from the UK, is all set to announce one more of its 'social networking optimized' phones.
'This can really help open up and drive Twitter use on mobile when usage becomes part of your data package like on the PC,' INQ Chief Executive Frank Meehan told Reuters earlier this week.
After winning an award for the best mobile handset back in February for its INQ1 Facebook phone, the manufacturer has managed to turn a few heads.
The Facebook phone, officially called the INQ1, won a 2009 Global Mobile Award for best mobile handset. The INQ1 comes with Facebook, Skype, Yahoo, Google, eBay, and Windows Messenger built-in, and it also supports Java and BREW, so other applications like MySpace can be added.
Almost four months later, the company is readying a Twitter optimized phone and hopes to cash in on the Twitter wave. INQ hopes to launch the phone by December. The phone is expected to be a mid range device with not too many high-end features. At the moment, there is no confirmation if the device will sport a QWERTY keyboard for faster text input.
