SwiftKey Symbols is an app that makes punching out a message easier. Created especially for people with special needs, the app shows users a grid of hand-drawn images that they can tap on to form a message on an Android phone or tablet.

Like a predictive keyboard, it predicts what image you may choose next. The prediction gets better with every conversation as the app analyses the user's key strokes. It also take into account the time and day to make predictions more accurate.

The sentence once formed, can be played back in audio for the intended recipient. You can also add custom photos to the grid to personalise and better use the app.

The Swiftkey Symbols app is a product of the Swiftkey Greenhouse department that works on ideas that might not be adopted by an app but are functions worth pursuing.

The app was developed as a result of the Innovation Week, a five-day-long hackathon.
