Xiaomi on Wednesday launched two new smartphones in India. Xiaomi Redmi Y3 is the company's new selfie-focused smartphone with a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. Redmi 7, the new budget smartphone was a surprise launch from Xiaomi.

Xiaomi Redmi Y3 is priced at ₹9,999 for the base model with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Redmi Y3 with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage will retail at ₹11,999. Redmi 7 starts at ₹7,999 (2GB+32GB) and ₹8,999 for the 3GB+32GB variant. The first sale for Redmi Y3 will take place on April 30, and Redmi 7 will be available on April 29 across mi.com, Amazon India and offline stores.

Redmi Y3 specifications

Redmi Y3 features a 6.26-inch HD+ 'dot notch' display with 19:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone comes in a 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5 body with rounded edges. Under the hood of it runs Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor paired with Adreno 506 GPU.

Coming to its highlight, Redmi Y3 sports a 32-megapixel selfie camera, making it the cheapest smartphone to offer one. The selfie camera offers EIS, Full HD video recording, and AI portrait mode. At the rear, Redmi Y3 has dual 12-megapixel and 2-megapixel rear cameras with EIS, AI scene detection and dual-LED flash.

On the software front, Redmi Y3 runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie. The smartphone is fuelled by a 4,000mAh battery. Its connectivity options include dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, triple SIM slot and Wi-Fi.

Redmi 7 specifications

Redmi 7 is the cheaper of the two but comes with almost the same set of specifications. The main difference here is the selfie camera which is an 8-megapixel on the Redmi 7. The rear cameras are the same with a combination of 12-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensors.

Redmi 7 comes with the same 6.26-inch HD+ dot notch display. It also looks very similar to Redmi Y3 with a glass body. Xiaomi differentiates with the Redmi Y3 having an "Aura Prism Design" and "Auro Smoke Design". Redmi 7 is powered by Snapdragon 632 processor, but with 2GB RAM capacity. There's also a 3GB+32GB storage variant of the Redmi 7.
