Xiaomi to launch Mi QLED 4K TV in India on Dec 16
Xiaomi's QLED 4K TV will most likely have a 55-inch display with HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision.
Xiaomi has teased the launch of its QLED TV in India. The Mi QLED TV 4K is scheduled to launch in India on December 16. The launch announcement comes shortly after Xiaomi teased a new event with the tagline “Quantum Leaps Ahead.”
Xiaomi hasn't shared any details about its QLED TV other than a small teaser video with nothing much to draw from. Some reports suggest the new QLED TV will be a rebranded Mi TV 5 or Mi TV 5 Pro which is currently available in China. Xiaomi has, however, confirmed to Financial Express that it is not going to bring a product to India that's already available in China.
“We could have launched a QLED TV nine months ago. Taking something that is available in China and launching here is something that we do not want to do because we want to spend that extra bit of time and energy to ensure we are able to do complete justice to the technology, so it works to its full potential,” Eshwar Nilakantan, category lead for smart TVs at Xiaomi was quoted by the publication as saying.
Nilakantan added that the new Xiaomi TV will be made in India. In fact, all upcoming QLED TVs from Xiaomi will be made in the country, and the company plans to expand this in 2021. Nilakantan didn't share much on the specs of the QLED TV but hinted on a 55-inch display. He also said that it will support HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision.
