The Motorola Razr 50 recently made its debut as a younger sibling to the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra which was launched earlier this year. This new clamshell smartphone comes with several exciting features and a bigger cover display, making it a worthy foldable smartphone at an affordable price. I have been using the device for a few days now, and here are my initial thoughts.  (Aishwarya Panda/ HT Tech)

In terms of design, the Motorola Razr 50 is quite similar to the “Ultra” variant, however, it has received significant upgrades over its predecessor. The design is quite slim and compact, however, when unfolded the display is oddly big which is something which may not be liked by users. With  Razr 50, Motorola has introduced some impressive colourways and I quite like the Spritz Orange finish on a vegan leather panel. (Aishwarya Panda/ HT Tech)

The Motorola Razr 50 features a  3.6-inch AMOLED cover display and a 6.9-inch FHD AMOLED main display, both offering an impressive viewing experience and they are equally responsive and fluid. One eye-catching fact about the Motorola Razr 50 series is its ability to access every app on the cover display including the Gemini AI chatbot. While flagship smartphone such as Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 restricts these features.  (Aishwarya Panda/ HT Tech)

In terms of camera performance, the Motorola Razr 50 features a 0MP main camera with OIS support and a 13MP ultra-wide camera. While I have yet to test its capabilities, the main camera captures decent images, however, the 32MP selfie camera brings too much saturation to the images and it makes the skin look slightly pink which looks like a filter.  (Aishwarya Panda/ HT Tech)

The Motorola Razr 50 is powered by  Mediatek Dimensity 7300X chipset which manages the day-to-day tasks with breeze. As of now, I have not faced any stutter while using the smartphone for basic tasks. The battery life of the device is not very impressive but decent considering its flip-style fold.  (Aishwarya Panda/ HT Tech)
