Gionee is a Chinese smartphone company founded in 2002. It was established in Shenzhen, Guangdong. In 2013, Gionee was launched in India. It was the tenth largest mobile phone brand in the world by volume, ranked No. 4 in terms of value and No. 2 in terms of ASP in 2014.
In 2015, Gionee
had the highest market share in India, and it partnered with Foxconn to commence local manufacturing. In 2016, Gionee launched "Selfiestan," Gionee's most successful campaign which featured Gionee A1. In 2018, the company was acquired by India's Jaina Group, which is one of the parent companies of Karbonn Mobiles. Apart from Foxconn, Gionee has worked with DBG and Padget, global mobile phone manufacturing brands.
In China, Gionee has 41 province general sales agents and 39 provincial service centres, with a 70,000 cooperation service network, 50,000 special zones, and 200,000 counters, and in India, Gionee has over 6,000 sales promoters and 4,000 sales counters. In 2015, there were more than 30,000,000 global shipments. With the launch of the F103 model in 2016, Gionee unveiled its first Made in India smartphone. A Foxconn unit in Sricity, Andhra Pradesh, produced the model.
Gionee Max Pro, which is the company’s latest offering, is priced at Rs. 7,299. It comes in three colours and sports a 6000 mAh battery. It is powered by Android 10.
Apart from smartphones, the company also sells power banks, smartwatches, earphones and earbuds.
