As Microsoft rolled out its much-anticipated Windows 10 operating system (OS) in 190 countries as a free upgrade on Wednesday, experts and commentators mostly gave it a thumbs-up.

Microsoft has described Windows 10 as 'more personal and productive, with voice, pen and gesture inputs for natural interaction with PCs'. It is designed to work with Office and Skype and allows users to switch between apps.

In an interview with the website Ozy.com, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said modern devices from smartphones to wearables, glasses and holographic computing all need an operating system, and that's why Windows remains absolutely relevant.

'All of these devices need an operating system, but do they need an individual operating system. They need a consistent experience to come across all of them. That's what Windows 10 is,' Nadella said.
