Apple AirTags will be expensive, likely to cost more than $50

Apple AirTags have been in the news for a while now. Reports in the past hinted that Apple could launch the Tile-like Bluetooth tracker alongside the iPhone 12 series smartphones. When that didn’t happen, reports tipped a November launch. Now, a new report sheds more light on the upcoming device. But this time around, it's not about a potential launch date but the price.

As per a report by the tipster who goes by the name Apple Leaks Pro, Apple AirTags will be expensive and they are likely to cost more than $50.

The tipster says that the AirTags are expected to cost $49 ( ₹3,598 approx) a unit. The case of these AirTags will cost around $20, which would take the price of this Bluetooth tracker to $69 ( ₹5,066 approx). This means that if a person is to get two AirTags, they will end up spending around $118 ( ₹8,664 approximately).

“AirTags will be expensive. 49 bucks each. Plus 20 for the carrying case. Plus the cost to charge them. Etc. Yeah if you want one prepare your wallets,” the tipster wrote.

Separately, reports have hinted towards the Apple AirTag arriving in 2021. Reports also hint that the new iOS 14.3 beta 1 features support for the AirTags. There is a section called ‘Hawkeye’ that is hidden in the code of Apple’s Find My app that is said to feature support for AirTags and similar third-party trackers.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the AirTags are said to work on U1 ultra-wideband chip and feature improved Bluetooth connectivity.
