The Apple Watch Series 8 is months away from launch, but details about the next-generation device have already started making their way to the internet. As per the latest report, the Apple Watch 8 will have ‘major updates for activity tracking and faster chips. Though nothing has been confirmed yet, Apple Watch Series 8 is expected to look similar to the Apple Watch Series 7 that brought a notable redesign with larger 41mm and 45mm sizes and even smaller display bezels than before.

A new report from Bloomberg suggests that 2022 could be the “biggest [year] in the history of Apple since the original model.” Mark Gurman has mentioned that Apple's upcoming Apple Watch Series 8 will bring major updates to activity tracking. He also mentioned that the Apple Watch Series 3 may also be discarded. Moreover, Apple’s much anticipated rumored rugged Apple Watch may also be unveiled this year.

In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Gurman wrote that Apple Watch won’t bring “any major new health sensors” this year, though it is being speculated Apple will finally add a body temperature feature to the device. Gurman wrote, “I think this year will be the biggest in the history of the Apple Watch since the original model. I’m looking for three new models this fall: an Apple Watch Series 8, an Apple Watch SE and an Apple Watch geared toward extreme sports.” He further added, “I wouldn’t expect any major new health sensors this year, besides the possible inclusion of the oft-discussed body temperature feature.”

Gurman also noted that Apple will announce a new, second-generation Apple Watch SE this year. The updated wearable is expected to feature small-scale changes, from improved chip to battery life. This new device is likely to be Apple's replacement to the aging Apple Watch Series 3.
