Users may recall that during the Galaxy S21 series and Galaxy Buds Pro launch, the company had shown off the new auto-switching capabilities of the Buds Pro, which allowed them to seamlessly switch between two Samsung devices based on which one was being used by the wearer. This allows users to watch a video on their Samsung tablet and then have the buds quickly switch to their Samsung smartphone when they receive a call.

The new firmware update weighs in at 1.41 MB and began rolling out to users last evening. As visible in the image above, it brings the wireless earbuds firmware to version R175XXU0AUB3. We had reported last week that the Galaxy Buds Live also received the Auto Switch feature along with a new Hearing Aid feature, which does not seem to have been added to the Galaxy Buds Plus with this update. Users can also control their Buds Plus from the Bluetooth settings menu instead of from the Galaxy Wearable app, which sounds like a useful feature.

However, there is one big caveat to the Auto Switch feature on the Galaxy Buds Plus. Like their newer siblings, the feature only works on Samsung devices which means you’ll need a phone or a tablet made by Samsung to be able to use the feature. Those devices will also need to be running Samsung’s latest One UI 3.1 which limits it to the Galaxy Tab S7 and S6, plus a few Galaxy S series and Note series devices and the newly launched Galaxy F62.
