Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, Watch 4 Classic series launched: Check price, specs, availability here

Samsung today hosted the second major event of the year. At its Galaxy Unpacked 2021 event, the Korean tech giant launched the Galaxy Watch 4 series smartwatch. The Galaxy Watch 4 series has models, which include the Galaxy Watch 4 smartwatch and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic smartwatch. The newly launched Galaxy Watch 4 series runs on a new version of Wear OS that has been jointly built by Samsung and Google. These are the first of Samsung's smartwatches that are getting access to the new Wear OS smartwatch operating system. 

The newly launched Galaxy Watch 4 series comes with a new Body Composition measurement tool that gives users a better understanding of their general health and fitness, with key measurements like skeletal muscle, basal metabolic rate, body water and body fat percentage. The newly launched smartwatch comes with Samsung’s BioActive Sensor, which uses a single chip to measure Optical Heart Rate, Electrical Heart and Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis, which enables users to monitor their blood pressure, detect an AFib irregular heartbeat, measure their blood oxygen level, and calculate their body composition. Users can also keep a track of their sleeping and snoring patterns using this smartwatch. Additionally, it comes with over 30 watch faces.

Galaxy Watch 4 series price and availability

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 will come in 40mm and 44mm size variants that will come at a starting price of $249.99 for Bluetooth versions and $299.99 for the LTE models. While the 40mm variant will be available in Black, Silver and Pink Gold colours, while the 44mm variant will be available in Black, Silver and Green colours.

On the other hand, the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic with a rotating bezel will be available in 42mm and 46mm size variants and Black and Silver variants. While the Bluetooth versions of the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic will start at $349.99 for Bluetooth versions and $399.99 for LTE models. 

As far as availability is concerned, the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic are available for pre-order in select markets starting August 11. They will go on sale in the US, Canada Korea and the UK starting August 27. A special rhodium-plated Galaxy Watch 4 Classic Thom Browne limited edition will be available in late September.

Coming to the specifications, the Galaxy Watch 4 offers a 1.4-inch super AMOLED full-color always-on display with a resolution of 450x450 pixels for the 44mm variant. The 40mm variant, on the other hand, comes with a 1.2-inch super AMOLED full-color always-on display with a resolution of 396x396 pixels. Both these models come with Corning Gorilla Glass protection.

The Galaxy Watch 4 is powered by Samsung's Exynos W920 Dual Core 5nm processor that launched earlier this week. It is coupled with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of storage space. It runs on the new Wear OS with One UI Watch 3 user interface on top. It is water-resistant up to 5ATM and it comes with IP68 and MIL-STD-810G certification. For connectivity, it has LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11, NFC, and GPS. Coming to the battery, while the 40mm variant comes with a 247mAh battery, the 44mm variant comes with a 361mAh battery.
