Samsung unveils Galaxy Watch Active2 in Rose Gold, pushes new software update

Samsung did not launch a smartwatch at the recent Galaxy Unpacked event but it did make an announcement regarding it soon after. The company has launched the Galaxy Watch Active2 in a Rose Gold and it is just going to be available in the 40mm variant.

Besides a new colourway, Samsung also pushed out a significant update for the Galaxy Watch Active2 series.

Just as a refresher, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 comes with a stainless-steel case and a 1.4-inch Super AMOLED display which has a screen resolution of 360 x 360 pixels. The display has an Always-On feature and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass DX+.

Inside, the Galaxy Watch Active2 is powered by the Exynos 9110 dual-core processor clocked at 1.15GHz and is paired with 1.5GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The smartwatch runs Tizen-based Wearable OS which makes it compatible with Android 5.0 and up, however, the smartphones in question must have 1.5GB of RAM (Samsung or non-Samsung). The smartwatch is also compatible with iPhone 5 and up running iOS 9.0 and above.

The new update that Samsung has pushed with the Galaxy Watch Active2 brings in the Samsung Health app, faster automatic workout detection, home training fitness programs etc. Another addition is SmartThings Find that will help you find your watch in case you misplace it.

The new update which brings the R820XXU1DUA3/R820GFC1DUA3 builds has a file size of nearly 85MB and has been rolled out in Canada and South Korea for now. It is going to be rolled out to other countries soon.
