If you are an Apple Watch user, then know that your smartwatch just got an amazing new feature. Yes, you got a great gift from Apple. With the latest watchOS 9 update, Apple is finally introducing a power-saving mode for Apple Watch to extend its battery life whenever needed, GSMArena reported. This will allow Apple Watch users to enable the power-mode feature manually whenever there is a need to save battery. Not just that, Apple has made some changes in the software which prompt the user whenever there's a 10 percent battery left on your Apple Watch. Also, the power mode can be automatically turned off once it achieves 80 percent charging level.
But how does this power mode affect the Apple Watch? Will it have any effect on its performance? The overall performance of the Apple Watch will be reduced, and that includes animations and navigation. This is so because the battery-saving mode will turn off some very high battery-consuming features including always-on-display, heart rate measurements and notifications, arrhythmia tracking, blood oxygen measurements, and workout reminders.
Not just that, if your Apple Watch is not connected to an iPhone, then it will even turn off cellular connections and Wi-Fi, which means incoming calls and notifications will be disabled. However, if some app or function needs data or a Wi-Fi connection, the system will automatically enable it. Also, if your Watch is not connected to any iPhone, then during the Power mode, it will postpone all notifications and will send after every hour.
However, all these features pale in significance as the most important thing is to keep the Apple Watch alive even when battery is running low. The Power mode will ensure that this vital link with the world lasts as long as possible. After all, a dead Apple Watch is totally useless for all intents and purposes and that is a scary prospect if you are out of your house.
However, it is not known how much extra battery life will be extracted with the Power Mode.
Also, the watchOS 9 update is for all those Apple Watch users who are eligible. You can activate the mode manually via the Control centre or through the settings menu.
