Realme brings another smartwatch on board but with the affordability factor in mind! To attract budget buyers, Realme launched the TechLife watch s100 that looks promising while bringing several features - sports modes, health trackers such as SpO2, heart rate, sleep management trackers, body and skin temperature sensor along with easy to handle UI, and long battery life with a premium look - all at just Rs. 2,499. It seems Realme ensured to pack as many features as it can under budget. But does it offer the same experience as it claims? Is it worth considering over the other smartwatches in the same price segment right now? To know the answers, I've been wearing Realme’s new budget smartwatch around my wrist for the last few weeks, and here are my observations..

Realme watch s100 Design and Display

Realme kept it classic and premium too -- It’s kind of a mixed bag. The rectangular dial built in the plastic body along with the 20 mm detachable silicon straps feels light (34 grams) and comfortable while carrying around your wrist. The right side has a single button that works as a power on/off option as well as navigation functionality, whereas on the bottom side, the dial, sensors and a magnetic charging spot got their place. Of the two available colour options - Grey and Black, I got the latter one. As a whole, it doesn't wow you in terms of design but doesn’t disappoint me either with the simple yet premium feel dial at this price.

Talking about its display, the Realme watch features a 1.6-inch screen display bringing bright and decent colours with 530 nits of peak brightness. It allows you to adjust the brightness from 25 to 100 percent. Normally, I used it at 75 levels but under harsh sunlight, the watch started struggling a bit which made me go up to the highest brightness manually. At corners, it has thick bezels, despite that screen size allows you to scroll, read and distinguish between different icons.

Realme watch s100 Features

Watch s100 has all those features which one can expect from an affordable smartwatch. From music control, phone camera controller, weather forecast, timer, and stopwatch to alarm, it has all the essential basic features that one can find useful in day-to-day activities. Plus, it is IP68 water-resistant certified, which means one can carry it on the wrist without any worries (it even handled Holi splashes!) Though, you can't wear it for swimming or while bathing.

Watch s100 also allows customised notifications for messages, and social media apps, as well as allows you to reject the calls from the watch itself. There is no microphone or speaker but notifications alerts and calls with vibration, which is helpful. This also means it allows you to only read the notifications and for the reply, you will ultimately go back to your smartphone. For a quick look at the smartwatch, the raise to wake up feature is here, but I found a few seconds delay with it.

Its software experience is clean and user-friendly. One can quickly find what they are looking for with Watch s100. Talking about its connectivity, it is quick to be paired with its Bluetooth 5.1 and auto-syncs the data to your phone via its Realme Fit app support. The app allows you to control its features in an extensive manner, change the dial faces with 110+ options as well as show elaborated information about health data. Oh yes, it has health-tracking features.

Realme watch s100 Health Tracking

Blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring, heart rate monitor, sleep quality monitor, sedentary reminder, drinking reminder to daily activities tracking -- the Realme watch s100 features all the health tracking sensors. But it did something unusual by adding a Skin and body temperature feature on a budget smartwatch. But one common thing that these health tracking features exhibited during my usage is… Inaccuracy!

And step tracking is what shows a huge difference in precision. Even while being stationary, the Realme watch can count several steps with hand movements only! Sleep monitoring also tracks inaccurate readings; even while you are awake, it shows that you slept! Blood oxygen monitoring and heart rate monitoring work decently with a slight difference in the recording while compared with recording with health equipment. Skin and body temperature are also just fine, with a slight difference in body temperature.

Besides these, the Watch s100 monitors 24 sports modes - walking, running, cycling, walking, badminton, dancing, hiking, and many more. I could test walking and dancing modes which help you to keep track of your calorie burn, exercise time, and live heart rate track that warns you if it exceeds the limit. These sports modes seem to work fine.

Realme watch s100 Battery

Battery life is the strongest part of the Realme watch s100. Realme claims up to 12 days of usage. During my test, even while keeping notifications on, enabling all the other 24 hours health tracking features and brightness at 75, it survived for 7 days straight. I also tried to use its sans-notifications while keeping the automatic SpO2 and body temperature mode off and I was able to extend its battery life up to around 10 days. To juice it up from null point to full, it takes around 1.5 hours.

For someone, looking for a smartwatch experience for the first time or needing it just to support your daily tasks in extension to the smartphone, the Realme TechLife Watch s100 is certainly one of the best options that you can find at under Rs. 2500. Packed with all the basic features along with the 24 sports modes is what makes us left impressed. But sadly, Realme couldn't offer accuracy with one of the basic necessities in addition to the notifications and other features, that is step-tracking. In order to offer multiple health record features, Realme TechLife watch s100 missed the most vital aspect - 'Accuracy'. Hence, health enthusiasts need to look for alternatives such as Xiaomi Smart Band 6, which we still consider as the benchmark.
