Sony PlayStation 4 will be available in India in March but with an increased price
Now that PlayStation 5 has launched in India (and still not available in many regions), many first-time customers might want to get hold of the PlayStation 4 thinking that its price will be lower than before. However, it might not be the case. According to a report by IGN India, Sony PlayStation 4 will be back in stock starting March this year. But the company will this time increase the PS4 price from 27,990 to 29,990.
The reason for this price hike is said to be the promotional scheme, which the company has decided to remove. It was because of the scheme that the price of PS4 was 27,990. This will get you 2018 SpiderMan along with some other titles like Ratchet and Clank, and Gran Turismo Sport in addition to three months of PS Plus subscription. There is no word if the company is planning to bring back the PS4 Pro model as well.
However, it is worth mentioning that even with the ₹2,000 price hike, the device will still be cheaper than the PS5, which is priced at ₹49,990 in India.
Earlier this month, Sony announced that it sold some 4.5 million units of PlayStation 5 gaming console last year. The news comes as the company continues to struggle to maintain supplies for its console in India and other parts of the world. In its earnings report, the company added that during the same time, which is the third quarter of 2020, it sold just 1.4million units of its PS4 gaming consoles.
However, on a side note, Sony said that while the PS5 sales looked promising, it was also losing money on every unit as the strategic price points for PS5 hardware were lower than the manufacturing costs.
