1. Mojang doesn't allow gamers to download experimental snapshots directly from the Minecraft launcher, since they aren't ready for public use. You will need to manually download the installer from this link, which will download a ZIP file.

2. Press the Start button and type %appdata% and press enter to open your user account's hidden AppData folder.

3. In the AppData folder, look for the .minecraft folder and select and enter the versions folder.

4. You will see a different folder inside -- you need to create a folder here, then extract the downloaded ZIP file into that folder.

5. Now go to the Minecraft launcher and select Installations, then make sure the modded option is selected and create a new installation.

6. You will need to select the version you just created in the AppData Minecraft folder and give it a name. Then click on Create which can be selected to play the latest Minecraft Experimental Snapshot.
