After launching the M1-based 13-inch MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and the Mac mini last year in November, Apple introduced the M1 iMac and M1 iPad Pro this year. But the company is nowhere close to being done. Rumour has it that Apple is planning to launch several new laptops and desktops and these should come with the new designs, faster processors (might be the M2), etc. According to a Bloomberg report, upgrades are expected across Mac products including the Mac Pro, iMac, and Mac mini. And while we wait to officially find out more, here's what we know about these upcoming devices so far.

Bloomberg states that Apple is working on a 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro that are codenamed J314 and J316. These laptops are expected to come with a redesigned chassis, MagSafe charger, and more ports for external devices along with an HDMI port and the SD card slot.

Also, while Apple's M1 chips are expected to show up in more devices, the company is also reportedly working on a more powerful chipset for the upcoming Macs. Now, the report also states that Apple is planning two different chips for the MacBook Pros, codenamed Jade C-Chop and Jade C-Die, both of which are expected to come with eight high-performance cores and two energy-efficient cores and will be offered in 16 and 32 graphics core variations. These upcoming chipsets may include 64GB RAM while the M1 Macs could get a maximum of 16GB, along with this, an improved neural engine is also expected.

Apple is also working on a new version of the Mac Mini that's codenamed J374. This one is reportedly going to feature the same chipset as the MacBook Pro and the number of ports is expected to be increased. This model is expected to replace the Intel-based Mac Mini that's currently being sold.

The Mac Pro might also get refreshed. The upcoming Mac Pro is codenamed Jade 2C-Die and Jade 4C-Die and reports have it that it might come in 20 core and 40 core variations, made up of 16 high-performance cores or 32 high-performance cores and four to eight high-efficiency cores and 64 to 128 graphic cores. Design-wise the new Mac Pro is expected to be smaller than the current model.

The M1 MacBook Air is expected to get a complete design overhaul with more colours and white bezels. We've seen some renders courtesy Jon Prosser. Besidesbeing a slimmer and lighter model, the new MacBook Air is also expected to lose the signature design, swapping it for a look that aligns it more with the MacBook and the MacBook Pros. It is also expected to be powered by the successor to the M1 chip that should be the M2. The next-gen chip has been codenamed Staten and might come with the same number of computing cores as the M1 but more graphical cores.

Breaking away from Intel almost entirely, Apple is reportedly preparing to remove the USB Retimer that helps power the USB-C and Thunderbolt ports on the computers.
