The iPhone 14 hasn't got off to a good start and customers are either settling in for the cheaper iPhone 13, or flocking over to the iPhone 14 Pro, despite its higher price tag. The situation is such that Apple has had to ask its contract manufacturers to reduce the iPhone 14 production and dedicate the resources to iPhone 14 Pro models. However, Apple has one model yet to go on sale that could change the fate of the non-Pro iPhone 14 series – iPhone 14 Plus.

The iPhone 14 Plus is the bigger version of the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, and is actually a new iPhone 14 variant, and marks Apple's return to the concept of a Plus-sized variant of its standard iPhone. It starts at Rs. 89,900 for the base 128GB variant and is the most affordable 6.7-inch variant of the iPhone you can buy now. But is it a clever choice? Should you buy the iPhone 14 Plus, or spend more and upgrade to the iPhone 14 Pro?

iPhone 14 Plus: Why should you buy it?

- One of the main reasons to get an iPhone 14 Plus is its larger 6.7-inch display size. The iPhone 14 Plus is the only iPhone with a 6.7-inch display you can buy today under Rs. 1 lakh. The only other iPhone with an equally big display is the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which sets you back by Rs. 139,900.

- Having a large 6.7-inch display is useful for those who love to watch movies, or stay glued to their screens for something or other. You get more space, despite the notch present on the top.

- The second biggest reason to consider the iPhone 14 Plus is its mega battery life. Apple says the iPhone 14 Plus offers the longest battery life on any iPhone till date. Hence, don't be surprised if you manage to use the phone for two days on moderate usage.

- The iPhone 14 Plus also has one of the fastest and well optimised chipsets in the smartphone industry – the A15 Bionic chipset. In the real world, there isn't any visible difference between this and the A16 Bionic chip.

iPhone 14 Plus: Why getting the iPhone 14 Pro is a better idea?

- The iPhone 14 Plus is not the most powerful iPhone you can buy, since it misses out on the A16 Bionic chip.

- You only get two 12MP cameras at the back instead of the triple camera setup on the Pro. Plus, no higher resolution 48MP camera here.

- The Dynamic Island is still an iPhone 14 Pro exclusive feature, and that means you have to deal with a small notch on the iPhone 14 Plus. Not the most pleasant sight.
