Amazon disables old iOS app in India, users asked to download new app

iPhone users will now have to download the new Amazon app or use the e-commerce platform's website to shop.

Amazon has disabled its old app on iOS, and users are being asked to move to the new shopping app. Amazon launched its new app this April while alerting users that the old one will shut down soon.

iPhone users who still have the old Amazon app will be redirected to the e-commerce platform's website whenever they open the app. The old Amazon app also flashes a message saying, “Shop on Amazon.in website”. Gadgets 360 first reported this development.

Amazon launched a new app for iOS called “Amazon India - Shop and Pay” this April. It didn't release an update to its existing app but instead launched a new one altogether. Amazon also started flashing a message on its old app urging users to delete this one and download the new one. iPhone users can download the new Amazon app and login with their account. All their details will be transferred to the new app.

The new Amazon app on iPhone comes with some visual changes like the logo now featuring a white background and a white shopping cart at the bottom against a blue background. In terms of user interface, the experience is more or less the same as it was in the previous Amazon app. It does offer a much cleaner look though. The app also comes with features like UPI and money transfer.
