Rovio Entertainment had already produced 50 mobile games between 2003 and 2009 before 'Angry Birds' took off; since then it has spawned another eight titles in the franchise, including two 'Star Wars' tie-ins.
But a new blog post on Rovio's site indicates that the series is ready to spread its wings.
The upcoming brand promises 'a part of the Angry Birds universe you've never seen before,' as well as 'plenty of fun and adventure.'
'The bunch of passionate pals will also have to deal with some serious issues in order to protect their friendship and the environment they live in,' it advises, before assuring readers that the quintet is 'good at finding creative solutions.'
Illustrating how Rovio's scope has expanded over the last ten years is the transmedia strategy of 'Angry Birds Stella.'
For when it arrives in fall 2014, Stella's adventures won't be confined to just an app, but the crew's story will be told through animations, books, toys, 'and other fun stuff.'
