Apple reportedly recovered a ton of gold from old iPhones, iPads and Macs last year according to their annual environmental report. That's roughly 265 crore worth of gold.

Most of the credit for the loot goes to Liam -- the robot that dismantles Apple products sent in for recycling after they've reached the end of their lives. Liam then takes the iPhone, iPad or Mac apart for easier recycling,

But collecting gold isn't the reason Liam helps out in recycling old Apple products. It also separates other materials like aluminium or plastic for effective recycling. The line of Liams introduced during the iPhone SE launch are capable of dismantling 1.2 million phones every year.
