Google+ Hangouts are multi-party video chats that allow up to 10 people to participate at a time. The hangout can be later shared on YouTube or streamed live using Hangouts on Air.

Citizens can submit their questions before the hangout by uploading a video, by commenting on the YouTube channel or through the Google India Page and tagging text or a video with the hashtag #askthefm, the ministry said.

Chidambaram will be joined by a select group of panelists including Jahangir Aziz, senior economist, Asia and chief economist, India, JP Morgan; Anand Mahindra, chairman and managing director, Mahindra & Mahindra; and Amit Singhal, senior vice-president, Google Inc.

This is for the first time a finance minister will use Google Hangout to answer netizens' queries on the Budget presented on February 28.

Globally, personalities including US President Barack Obama; Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard; Malaysian Prime Minister Najib had interacted with netizens on Google Hangout.
