Want to take a closer look at the world from the comfort of your lounge room? Microsoft is hoping that its addition of 215 terabytes of high resolution mapping data for will have you Binging -- rather than Googling -- your next search.

It's the second time that Microsoft has updated its high-resolution imagery in less than a month, and yet another sign that competition in the mapping space is heating between Microsoft, Google, Apple and Nokia.

The latest addition of mapping data lets people zoom right in to the US and certain areas across Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Tokyo for a bird's eye view of the location.

"This oblique perspective of the world is a special feature of Bing Maps, and we are proud to announce Bird's Eye has a total of 1,388,593 square kilometers of imagery," said Microsoft in a post on the Bing Maps blog. "That's a total of 302 TB of data!"
