Now, the company is taking a step back to focus on the services like the messenger -- BBM.The Canadian smartphone maker is adding to the privacy and control features in it's messaging platform across iOS, Android and BlackBerry smartphones.

With the new update, BBM users can now take advantage of enhanced privacy and control features that allow taking control over the messages and content that they share without any subscription fees, BlackBerry said in a statement.

BBM users can 'retract' their messages and pictures from recipients to take them back from their phone if they were sent as a mistake, or if they no longer wish them to be accessible.

Also, they can set a timer to control how long contacts can view messages and pictures, it added. Much like teh self-destructing messages in the Mission Impossible series.
