French consumer electronics company Archos is set to present its Android-powered TV Connect at the CES in Las Vegas. The idea is to bring Android to the TV experience and thus take advantage of its many applications on a big screen.

Archos TV Connect is a set-top box with a webcam designed to be placed above the screen and a joystick that acts as a remote control, joystick and keyboard. The box has 8GB of flash memory that can be extended with a microSDHC card. It is connected to the television by a HDMI cable.

The system makes it possible to play games such as Angry Birds, surf the Web, send e-mails, watch videos on YouTube and even take advantage of Google Play Movies on your TV. You can also read any multimedia file (audio, photo, video) from your computer, smartphone or tablet.

The Archos TV Connect which runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) should be available in February 2013 for €129.
