Facebook is allegedly in talks to develop a new music service.

The social network has had discussions with Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group, The Verge reports. However, the exact nature of the potential venture is thought to be undecided as of yet.

Speculation is rife that the company could be aiming to capitalize on its successful Facebook Video feature to broaden its entertainment output.

The news follows the launch of Apple Music, the new streaming service from the tech giant.
