Fastfilmz, a startup with its headquarters in Bengaluru and London, has launched an HD movie app -- claimed to be the world's fastest -- at an event organised for movie fans here.

With over 150 plus hit HD Tamil movies, Fastfilmz offers unlimited downloads and has lowest data consumption, for as little as ₹30 a month -- Re one a day, a company release said here.

The 'Be a Hero' event in KG Cinemas on Monday, featured a complete movie set with a special hero chair, make-up artist, umbrella, clapper board, lights and music, which showcased a dramatic movie-style backdrop -- featuring an explosion and a 1000cc sports bike, where fans could pose and get their pictures and videos shot.

Fastfilmz also provided a free Wi-Fi zone where people could download the app from Google Play and it has exclusively partnered with V-Nova for its 'PERSEUS Technology' - the world's fastest video compression technology - to solve the issues of high data costs for downloads and buffering when streaming, the release said.

"PERSEUS allows Fastfilmz to provide *full movie downloads at as low as 150MB data per 2.5-hours movie versus >600MB data usage by any other app.The technology also enables streaming of quality video over the 2G networks that 70 per cent of India's consumers use for Internet access," the release said.
