'Metamorphosis,' 'The Castle' and 'Amerika' provide a fertile soil for 'The Franz Kafka Videogame,' coming to PC, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android in 2014. Does it look suitably odd? You bet.

The game's main character, K, is sent on a distant voyage from his homeland by his new employer. But as it turns out, the rest of the world is more than a bit weird.

Absurtity, surrealism and plenty of puzzles are promised by Russian developer Denis Galanin, who had previously produced Shakesperian re-imagining 'Hamlet or the Last Game without MMORPG Features, Shaders and Product Placement.'

Employing a hand-drawn art style, the debut trailer sees spiky tentacle monsters loom, strange contraptions inhabit wartime trenches, dogs retrieve mysterious messages and spacemen appear in dark dank alleys.

Against that backdrop a six-armed, tall green man in a trenchcoat doesn't seem so abnormal after all.

Galanin's previous full-length excursion into Point & Click Adventureland had seen players step into the shoes of Hamlet, temporarily indisposed due to a time-traveling accident, while the dastardly Claudius closes in on marrying Ophelia.

Since then, Galanin has produced a number of smaller games for the Newgrounds portal and provided monthly illustrated cartoon strips for Russian games industry site Galyonkin.com.
