'Battlelog shows you your friends' progress within the game, but also any outside activity like forum posts and banter between players,' explains Fredrik Löving, Battlelog Producer at the BF3 studio DICE.

Each and every battle gets its own report, with best players, most efficient weapons and vehicles, score and reward breakdowns and an instant comments box available.

Individual players can track their own stats and progress, weapons and gear, vehicle usage, awards and, for maximum bragging rights, dog tags obtained from close-quarters knife fights.

There are global leaderboards with a handy friend filter attached, so buddies can not only form Platoons together but also rank pal performance across a variety of categories.

The Battlelog is an interpretation of the Autolog feature found within each Need for Speed game since 2010's Hot Pursuit, as well as Burnout Crash and snowboarding title SSX all of which are published by Electronic Arts.

It also offers a counterpoint to game portals for rival series such as Halo's Waypoint and Modern Warfare 3's Call of Duty Elite.
