Google Maps brings a BIG new update that will satisfy your wallet! Starting this month, Google Maps can actually help you save money from Toll Booths on your routes. You will be able to see the toll prices and even ask Maps to change your route in order to avoid the toll booths and charges. The feature will be rolling out this month for both Android and iPhone users, and India is among the first few countries getting the feature along with the US, Japan and Indonesia.

The update will let users choose between routes that have toll booths and ones that don't. Google Maps will also show the toll prices in a bid to help you plan your trip in a better way. “With this new update, users can now find the estimated toll price to their destination even before the trip starts, thanks to up-to-date toll pricing information from local tolling authorities,” says Google in a press note. The feature will estimate the toll price based on factors such as toll pass cost or other payment methods, time as well as day.

The option can be enabled from within the Google Maps app once it rolls out to your device. “A simple tap on the three dots at the top right corner of the directions in Google Maps will let users select the route options and ‘avoid tolls', if they wish to avoid toll routes completely,” says Google in the note.

BIG upgrades for iPhone, Apple Watch users

Google is also making the Maps experience better on the iPhone and Apple Watch. With the latest update, Maps on the Apple ecosystem will offer a new pinned trip widget, direct navigation from the Apple Watch, and Google Maps integration into Siri as well as the shortcuts app.

With the new pinned trip widget , you can access your favourite trips from the Go Tab right from the iOS home screen. This should make it easier to get directions. Google says that users can check out the arrival time, the next departure for the chosen public transport trip, and even a suggested route to drive.

Additionally, Apple Watch users will now be able to get directions from Google Maps directly from the Watch. There will be no need to input the destination from your iPhone anymore — tapping the shortcut will open the navigation from the Watch automatically. A”Take me Home' complication can also be added on Watch faces to directly start navigation to your Home address.

Google Maps Willa also be integrated into iOS Spotlight, Siri and the Shortcuts app. If you set up the shortcut, you simply ask Siri to get direction, or look for it in Google Maps. Note that these features will be coming in the later months.
