Google Maps location sharing now shows battery percentage
Users who choose to share their location via Google Maps will also be revealing their battery percentage.
Google Maps has updated its location sharing feature with a new tool to show battery percentage of users. The new feature will show your phone's battery percentage with whomever you share your location with via Google Maps.
Users can check this by sharing their location with their friends on Google Maps. There is no option available to turn off battery percentage on location sharing.
How to share location on Google Maps
Open Google Maps and tap on the menu button.
Click on location sharing from the menu.
You can choose the time limit for your location up to 3 days or till you turn it off.
Location can be shared via WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, email, SMS, and more.
Once you share your location it will appear on the receiver's Google Maps. The battery level will be indicated with a percentage. This feature requires no update to the Google Maps app.
This was first spotted in February by Android Police when it did a teardown of the Google Maps v9.71 beta.
