Your Google homepage will be a bit different from now on, as Google has a new logo!

While Alphabet's first face came in the form of a subtle red-on-white logo on August 12, tech-pundits around the world had already expected an evolution of Google.

So Google on Tuesday slightly tweaked the same colourful text which now shows in sans-serif. Google says it's as simple as 'schoolbook letter printing'. The doodle showed the old logo being wiped off, and a hand scribbling the six letters in the iconic colours. Moments later, Google broke the news on Twitter.

During a recent shake-up, Google became a fully owned subsidiary of Alphabet . The former Google CEO Larry Page now heads Alphabet as the CEO while his partner Sergey Brin is its president. Also, Chennai-born Sundar Pichai was made the new Google CEO.

The new logo has three elements: Google Logotype, Dots and Google G for various formats and interfaces.

Google opened the news to the world through a video showing the evolution of the logo. Google's design team tells how the 'quirky, multicolored logo sits above a single, approachable input field on a clean white canvas'.

Sharing its vision of the new logo, Google Design said: 'As technology moves forward, the canvas itself is changing, and the inputs and needs are becoming more diverse. New classes of devices and ways to interact and communicate have emerged with wearables, voice technology, and smart devices in the world around us.'

At the launch of Alphabet on August 10, CEO Larry Page told that the restructuring was aimed at separating the tech giant's moneymaking businesses from other ventures that have worried investors while still driving innovation.

As a part of Alphabet, Google holds the search engine, ads, maps, apps, YouTube, the Android system and related technical infrastructure.
