Here’s how you can tweet in 280 characters right away
Cannot wait for Twitter’s new update for 280-character tweets? Well, here’s an easy tool to send 280-character tweets right away. It works.
Twitter is set to roll out the biggest ever change to its platform -- the 140-character limit will now be doubled to 280 characters. This is the first time since the launch of the micro-blogging platform, the tweet length has been increased. Over the year, the company has optimised the platform to make space for links, photos and videos. But, the tweet character limit never changed.
The new tweet limit is currently being tested out with a select group of users. Twitter hasn't disclosed when it will be rolling out the feature for all of its users. But if you cannot wait until Twitter's official rollout, here's a very simple workaround for you to get started tweeting in 280 characters right away.
Tweet 280
This is essentially a JavaScript-based bookmarking tool that lets you post longer tweets. Visit https://juliette.sh/280 and follow the instructions. It will ask you to bookmark a link, and then open TweetDeck (www.tweetdeck.twitter.com). Now, click on the bookmarked link, and voila, you can now tweet in 280 characters.
I just tried out the link and it worked smoothly. This is a very simple and easy to use tool and works instantaneously. The catch is it works for desktop browser and relies on tweetdeck. Here's a tweet in 280 characters.

There are a few other workarounds as well, but based on user reviews, it appears that they don't really work well or are either too complex. We will recommend the Tweet 280 tool over other tools that are doing the rounds for its sheer simplicity.
