Honor 9N launched in India: Full specifications, price and features

Honor 9N succeeds the Honor 9 Lite with a notch display and some improvements under the hood.

Huawei's sub-brand Honor launched the Honor 9N smartphone, its latest budget entrant with a notch display, in India on Tuesday.

Honor 9N is an upgrade over the company's best-selling smartphone in the country, the Honor 9 Lite. The smartphone's biggest upgrade is the notch display design along with incremental upgrades under the hood. While the smartphone retains Honor 9 Lite's look and feel with the rear design, it looks quite similar to Honor 10 on the front.

Honor 9N will be available in four colour options of midnight black, sapphire blue, lavender purple and robin egg blue. Honor 9N is also the company's first smartphone to be manufactured in India.

Honor 9N pricing and availability
Honor 9N starts at ₹11,999 for the base variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. The mid-variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage will retail at ₹13,999. There's also a top-end model with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage, which carries a price tag of ₹17,999. Honor 9N will be available in India starting July 31 exclusively via Flipkart and Honor's e-store.

Reliance Jio users can avail a cashback of ₹2,200 and 100GB additional data on purchasing the Honor 9N.

Honor 9N features a 5.8-inch Full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9. The smartphone is powered by the in-house Kirin 659 octa-core processor.

In the photography department, Honor 9N sports a 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel dual-camera setup at the rear. Up front, it houses a 16-megapixel camera for selfies, which the company claims can take good photos in low-light conditions. Some camera features on Honor 9N include 3D contouring, smart and gender beautification, and effects like changing the background image.

Honor 9N is fuelled by a 3,000mAh battery. On the software front, it runs Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 layered on top. Its connectivity options include dual SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. The smartphone also features the face unlock feature and a rear fingerprint sensor.
