After WhatsApp and Instagram, it is now Facebook Messenger's turn to go the Snapchat way. It works exactly as you would expect. You can take photos and videos, enhance them with drawings, text, emojis and colour filters, and share them with either all or some of your friends. The photos or videos will disappear after 24 hours.

This new feature, that rolls out globally to Android and iOS users today, is a further addition to the Facebook Messenger app after having integrated a full-screen camera late last year.

This is how you can use the new feature:

You can also add to your day from a conversation you're having with a friend or group of people

You can also add to your day from a conversation you're having with a friend or group of people. After you send a photo or video, you'll see the option to "add to your day." Tap that text, confirm, and add it to your day. While you're messaging with someone, you'll be able to see if they have added anything new from their day as well.

This feature also has customisable privacy, and lets you choose who you want to share your 'day' with and incorporates the 'Everyone Except' option that Facebook posts have too.

"We love seeing how much fun people are having with Messenger's new visual tools," wrote Stan Chudnovsky, Facebook's Head of Product for Messenger, adding, 'At the same time, we also began testing a way for you to share these photos and videos — as they happen — by adding to your Messenger Day, where many of your friends can view and reply to them.'
