Apple at its Special Event shared a big update on its long-awaited 'Apple TV Plus' streaming service. The new Netflix rival will be available on Apple TV for 99 per month with a seven-day trial starting November 1 for Apple users. Apple also said that it will be rolling out its new Apple TV+ streaming service on select 2018, 2019 and newer Samsung smart TVs, and on Amazon Fire TV, LG, Roku, Sony and VIZIO platforms in the future.

As an introductory offer, Apple is offering one year of Apple TV+ subscription for free to customers who purchase new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch or Mac starting September 10. The free subscription will be activated from November 1.

The company had first unveiled the subscription service in March this year. Set to take on the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu and other streaming platform, Apple TV Plus has roped in Hollywood's big stars such as Steve Carell, Jennifer Aniston and JJ Abrams. The content catalogue includes original shows, movies and documentaries, including "The Morning Show," "Dickinson," "See," "For All Mankind" and "The Elephant Queen."

Apple TV Plus, just like other subscription-based streaming platforms, doesn't serve advertisements. The platform will be available this fall in more than 100 countries. You can access the new streaming platform via the revamped Apple TV app.
