iPhone manufacturing facilities in India hit by Covid-19

A total of 13 cases Covid-19 positive cases have been registered at Foxconn and Wistron's facilities in India.

A pair of iPhone manufacturing facilities in India have been hit by Covid-19. Factories operated by Apple's supply-chain partners, Foxconn and Wistron have been impacted by the second wave of the pandemic.

Foxconn earlier this week confirmed that 10 Chinese engineers based at its Chennai facility have been infected with Covid-19. Following the discovery, the infected workers were quarantined at a local hospital and the plant was temporarily closed for sanitisation.

A similar incident took place at the Wistron facility in Kolar, Karnataka as well wherein three of the company's Taiwanese engineers tested positive for Covid-19. My Smart Price reports that after the discovery the facility was vacated and suspended for five days for sanitisation. It was reopened soon after the sanitisation work was over.

Foxconn in a statement to the Central News Agency reports said that its factory in India was operating and that it was providing its employees all the necessary assistance to fight the pandemic. The publication also reported that it was cooperating with the local government policies to respond to the future changes in the pandemic.
