LG has hinted that it will show off new 'design-oriented' Optimus handsets during this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC).

The company revealed that it had redesigned the Optimus logo to reflect the brand's "modern and seamless simplicity" philosophy, which will also be embodied in the new devices.

"With the new logo and desired specifications, LG will offer superior smartphones that bring design prestige to users seeking aesthetic beauty on technological devices," said LG.

LG revealed that its new lineup of Optimus smartphones will sport metallic edges and a slim shape, features also echoed in the new logo.

This year's MWC is building up to be an exciting event for smartphone lovers. HTC is rumored to unveil its quad-core flagship One X handset (aka Edge / Endeavor), and Samsung is tipped to reveal its Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet.

Mobile World Congress will take place in Barcelona from February 27-March 1.
