Meet the Vivo Xplay5 Elite - the world’s first phone with 6 GB RAM

Chinese manufacturer Vivo has launched - the Vivo Xplay5 Elite, a smartphone which appears to be all about its monstrous specifications.

The highlight of the Vivo Xplay5 Elite is of-course its massive 6 GB of RAM, though other specifications and hardware on the phone also pack a punch. The smartphone sports a full-metal body featuring a dual-curved 5.43-inch Super AMOLED Quad-HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Powering the smartphone is the latest quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor and comes with 128 GB of built-in non expandable storage.

The Xplay 5 Elite also gets a 16-megapixel rear camera along with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The dual-SIM smartphone comes with a 3,600 mAh battery and also features a fingerprint scanner on the back. The smartphone will be available in China starting March 8 for a price of Chinese Yen ¥ 4,288 (roughly 44,300).

The smartphone was unveiled at an event in China, alongside the Vivo Xplay5 featuring 4 GB of RAM which is the more affordable variant of the Elite model. It retains the same design featuring a 5.43-inch Super AMOLED quad-HD display, with a similar camera, battery and in-built storage as that of its Elite variant. Though it houses a slightly less powerful Snapdragon 652 processor with 4GB of RAM and gets a price tag of Chinese Yen ¥ 3,698 (roughly 38,200).

Details regarding the availability of these devices outside of China are still not available.
