The Samsung WB600 is not too different from the previously released WB550. Its major difference lies in its enhanced zoom capabilities — it boasts a huge 15x optical zoom, 5x more than the older model.

Form
The WB 600 is encased in a rugged plastic body and feels sturdy enough to survive a fall. The matte finish ensures that the camera doesn't get smudged with fingerprints. At 107 x 61 x 28 mm and weighing 245 g, the WB600 is a tad heavy to be carried around in your pocket.

Despite its weight and dimensions, however, it fits well in the palm. But since it lacks any sort of grip (other than its protruding right side), there are chances it might slip. Capturing wide angle shots shouldn't be a problem since it comes with a 24 mm wide angle lens.

Features
A feature that the camera doesn't mention clearly is its ability to capture video in HD. However, the maximum resolution that the WB600 can record in is 1280 x 720 (720p) at 30 fps.

The biggest selling point of the camera is its ability to make use of its massive 15x zoom to the fullest. It holds good at full zoom giving you a very steady video. Moreover, the user also has the freedom to pause while shooting; this allows you to change the shooting mode within the same frame.

Performance
The camera handles colour and contrast quite well. It performs equally well even in dimly lit areas but brings quite a lot of noise into pictures. When you zoom in, this becomes quite apparent even at the lowest ISO range. However, resizing the image gives a much better output.

The camera's night mode performs well but might not be the best. Macro shots are considerably detailed and come out looking sharp.

Verdict
The Samsung WB600 is an above-average camera with a mighty zoom lens packed into a rather small body. There are issues with noise at the lowest ISO but it doesn't go to the extent of making the image unusable. All in all, the Samsung WB600 is a decent camera with a good set of features. It is competitively priced at 15,990.
