Before Grand Theft Auto (GTA) became a rage among the millennials, there was Road Rash in the 90s. The game basically involved racing around circuits and do whatever it took to the win the race. Looking back, the motorcycle combat-racing game does seem pretty elementary now, riding on graphics from an era long gone extinct. But, back then it was really fun.

Now, an upcoming bike-racing game called Road Redemption has set the internet on fire. The trailer that dropped earlier this month shows the new avatar of the classic racing game. While many believe it's the successor to Road Rash, note that the original game was developed by Electronic Arts whereas Road Redemption is brought to you by Pixel Dash Studios and EQ Games.

The graphics for the game look top-notch, comparable to any of the popular games in 2017. It does retain the essence of the game: Kick and punch the rivals to hit the finish line first. It seems the games will get access to some new manoeuvers as well. And you can shoot them too. A few backgrounds do remind us of the movie Mad Max as well.

The game features a Single Player Campaign with full 4-player splitscreen co-op. It also comes with "massive, expandable skill tree. Rack in the loot to upgrade your character, your bike, and your weapons. A deep motorcycle fighting system with grabs, kicks, counters, critical strikes, and more. Full support for both mouse & keyboard and gamepad control configurations," the developers explain on their website.

You can also "earn money by completing races, assassinations, robberies, and other challenges in your path. As you collect loot, you'll upgrade your character, your bike, and your weapons," it adds.

Road Redemption is releasing on October 4 on the following platforms: Playstation 4, Wii U, OSX, Xbox One, Linux and Microsoft Windows. Here's the much talked about trailer of Road Redemption.
